Your Place Or Mine
December 2023
We featured art work by an asylum applicant and photographic prints from Tom Hicks of Black Country Type.
Location29 commissioned Svons, from SMO Crew (SMO = Smile More Often) to create a graffiti installation - “Open Doors to Open Eyes” - Acrylic on wood.
This exhibition raised funds for Let’s Feed Brum – a charity providing food and essential supplies, through community breakfast clubs and nightly walkabouts, to our street friends.

Open Doors to Open Eyes” is an interactive installation. Svons created a continuous design on 5 doors hung on the gallery wall. Behind the doors was text based on conversations with neighbours who are street homeless – an example “no address, no meds”. Svons’ message is clear: overcome your fear to open doors. Open doors, whether to welcome others or to face what has been shut out.
