Crisis UK

In December 2021, we exhibited work from Crisis graduates San, Laura and Grantley, who each particpated in Crisis’ art programme- with an aim to putting their talents to commercial use.

San has a degree in architecture. Her work explores regeneration as part of an evolutionary process. Regeneration demonstrates current use of the land. It embodies a dynamic interaction between interior and exterior space and co-exists with memories laid during previous uses of the site.

Laura’s work celebrates the complexity of our natural world. Through meticulous detail, she communicates a wholesome and powerful simplicity. It’s a clear message: everything plays a part and nothing is to be overlooked.

From the visual extravagance of David Bowie and Elton John, to the raw rap of 2Pac- there is no difficulty recognising Grantley’s subjects. Grantley likes his paintings to reflect the real world. At the same time, it offers more. Take a look at the Bowie portrait: the soldiers represent the singer’s commitment to campaigning for the rights of Aborigines.

Included an exhibition of photographs by the young photographer Oli, who documented homeless individuals he met in Birmingham. This event raised money for Crisis UK.
